First Review: Kiss Nail Dress Nail Shields

Hello! My name is Jess and I am a HUGE fan of nail polish, nail art, and all things pretty on fingernails. I read so many amazing nail blogs in the blogosphere and after a year of reading and admiring girls like Sam of Nailasaurus Nails, Cristina of Let Them Have Polish and Stephanie of Sincerely Stephanie Nails I decided hey, why not give it a try myself? So here I am. :)

I'm starting off the blog with a review of Kiss Nail Dress nail shields in Babydoll pattern. I got these free in my Holiday Vox Box from Influenster.com and was really excited to try them out. I've never used any of the nail shields before, so I read the instructions before starting. ;) They're pretty straightforward to apply. The kit comes with 28 shields in a wide variety of sizes and they're formulated to fit both fingernails and toenails all in one kit!

Application: I found the application a little frustrating, but I think that's mostly because my nails have a LOT of curve from side to side, so applying the stickers without bubbles or wrinkles was pretty much an impossible task. I managed to minimize the wrinkles by gently rubbing with the flat side of an orange stick, but a few of them snuck in despite my best efforts.I used nail clippers to trim the excess shield away before I used the file included in the kit to bring it down to the length of my nail. No matter how much filing I did the edges still felt a little rough, but I think that has something to do with the fact that my set was 3D, and with all of the little gems and raised areas it was all but impossible to smooth it out.

Forgive the poor photo quality, I still need a light box.

Pattern: I loved Babydoll as a pattern. It's a gorgeous champagne metallic base with gold circles and clear bubble studs on top of that. Seriously, it made me feel like I had fizzy, bubbly champagne on my nails the whole time! They have some other fantastic patterns available; my next one is going to be Push-up because I have a weakness for peacock feathers. :D

Wear time: I was actually super impressed with the wear on these. Mine lasted nearly 4 days before I got tired of wearing the same thing and took them off to change things up. They weren't lifting or peeling at ALL by that time, so I'm sure I could have gotten even more wear out of them. The box boasts 7-10 days and after my experience with them I'm no longer skeptical that this is the case. I did have some mild tip wear by the end of the 4th day, but I type all day long so it's unavoidable. Despite the fact that they seemed more than happy to stick around on my nails for a few days, they were also SUPER easy to remove, just pull up a corner and they pull right off, and remove any remaining adhesive with some gentle rubbing and/or acetone.

Overall: B+ Despite my application problems I really liked these! I would definitely buy them again and give them another try, now that I've got more of an idea of how to apply them. I also think they would look super cute on my toes, and may have to try that in the spring/summer when there's actually a point to toe polish. ;)
